We Modify Your Home To Fit Your New Needs… So You Can Stay Longer

Who wouldn’t want to live at home as they grow older? Less than 5% of the “baby boomers” and their parents, that’s who. Fully 95% of Americans would rather remain in their homes as they age than move to an assisted living facility or a retirement home.

Every day 10,000 Americans reach the age of 50. One person every 7 seconds. That is nothing short of a population phenomenon. At no other time in American history have so many people belonged to this population segment. Currently, there are 77 million people over the age of 50 living in America and that trend will continue to increase for the next 20 years.

Companies are scrambling to meet the changing lifestyle needs of these baby boomers and their parents. One of those companies is Nordine Remodeling, LLC based in Normal, Illinois.

Nordine Remodeling, owned by George Nordine, has until recently devoted its business to supplying homeowners with new roofs, siding, and windows. Now they are adding non-skid flooring, modified hallways to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers, luminescent light switches and skylights for those with visual challenges, grab bars and seats for shower areas, and a multitude of other products that serve the needs of America’s aging population.

Baby Boomers and their parents will ultimately face the decision every one else faces in their lifetime.how long can I live at home before I move to a nursing home or move in with my children?

This is where NordineCareSM really makes sense, both emotionally and economically. Emotionally, you are happiest when you are at home. Economically, home modification costs are relatively minor when compared to today’s nursing home costs. At $3,000 per month for nursing home care, homeowners can pay for a lot of home modifications and come out ahead. Economically, it makes perfect sense to modify your home. In addition, many of these modifications could add value to your existing home and could; therefore, increase its resale value.

NordineCare is based on four service pillars. Those pillars include a confidential, eight-page audit of the customer’s home, a prioritized list of potential household modifications, professional installation, and complete follow through and evaluation after the modifications are complete. During a home audit many questions are asked about each area of the home including the kitchen areas, bath areas, bedrooms and living rooms, entry ways and foyers, task areas including work areas, sewing rooms, etc. Each area is assessed for need.

Once the completed list of potential modifications is made the homeowner, with the help of a family member or friend, chooses which modifications are the most important. Those areas with the greatest need(s) are modified first.
